We were recently asked by Manx Radio to comment on the report by the British Heart Foundation about the extent that Chronic Heart Disease affects our population. Our Chairman John Bourbon replied:
“This is a sobering report from the BHF which underlines the need for the vital research that they do.
The more that the public understand the risks that as they say affect just as many women as men, then the higher awareness will hopefully encourage people to be more aware and seek help if they become concerned.
For our part the Manx Heart Foundation exists to help provide specialist equipment for the cardio thoracic department at Nobles to help detect coronary heart disease and to support the staff of the unit attaining further related professional qualifications."
