October 3rd - Jane Runs London

My name is Jayne Farquhar and I will be running the London Marathon on 3rd October 2021 for the Manx Heart Foundation. I had planned to run it in April 2020, but due to Covid-19 restrictions, that was not possible.

Over recent years I have done a lot of long distance race walking. I have completed the Parish Walk five times and have completed three Centurion walks (walking 100 miles in 24 hours). I like setting myself new challenges and enjoy taking part in running events for a change from walking. I have ran the Isle of Man Marathon a few times (having walked it in 2016 and 2017). I also completed Blackpool Marathon in 2019 and in October 2020 completed the Virtual London Marathon in and around Peel.

I always watch the London Marathon on TV and think how great it would be to be a part of it and experience the atmosphere. After the events of the last year and not being able to hold the marathon as planned I think the atmosphere is going to be even more special. I am so pleased to have the opportunity to take part in the London Marathon in 2021 and in particular to be able to raise money for such a worthy charity. Some of my relatives have a heart condition so running for the Manx Heart Foundation will keep me motivated on the day.
