Jayne Farquhar is running the London Marathon for Manx Heart Foundation
My name is Jayne Farquhar and I will be running the London Marathon in 2020 for the Manx Heart Foundation. Over recent years I have done a lot of long distance racewalking. I have completed the Parish Walk five times and have completed three Centurion walks (walking 100 miles in 24 hours). I like new challenges and take part in running events sometimes just for a change from the walking. In 2018 and 2019 I decided to run the Isle of Man Marathon (I walked it in 2016 and 2017). I managed to finish it in 3.59 last year and 3.52 this year. Much to my surprise I actually won the ladies race this year which was totally unexpected.
I always watch the London Marathon on tv but this year I couldn’t help thinking how great it would be to be a part of it and experience the atmosphere. I am so pleased to have the opportunity to take part in the London Marathon in 2020 and in particular to be able to raise money for such a worthy charity. Some of my relatives have had a heart condition so running for the Manx Heart Foundation will make it a lot more special on the day.
